Each year, the Associated Church Press honors member magazines, newspapers, authors, designers and photographers at their annual Best of the Christian Press Awards Banquet.  The awards, presented in Chicago, April 2014, recognized work produced during 2013. WebDexterous' efforts on The Christian Chronicle website earned first place - the Award of Excellence for Website Redesign.  It was an extensive  effort that involved ecommerce, custom web applications, social media integration, contact database and email marketing and advertising solutions.

For most web designers, the first question out of a prospective customer's mouth is, "How much does a website cost?" Often, customers are looking for a quick and easy price quote, but the answer to their question depends on what kind of website--and what kind of service--they want. A budget website may not be the best option for attracting and keeping customers. Just as in a luxury auto, extra features are worth the extra cost. On the other hand, shrewd businesses must keep their budgets and their bottom lines in mind. No one wants to pay more than they have to.

Until they begin the process of building a website, most people do not give any thought to the content management system (CMS) that powers the website. Web developers, however, are often embroiled in a hotly contested debate over the best CMS to effectively manage a website. For many businesses, the battle between open source CMS and closed or commercial CMS is initially a battle between "free" and paid services. Upon further investigation, it becomes apparent that the benefits and drawbacks of each type of system go far beyond initial cost.

When you need to know how to do something, there are several ways to find out what to do and how to do it.  You can read instructions, you can ask someone to explain it to you, or you can have someone show you how to do it.  Each of these methods can be effective, and depending on your needs, each one may work for the specific task in mind.  However, your mileage may vary, and often, the best method allows for a combination of instructional strategies.

When something matters to us, we tend to rely on professionals to make sure it is done right.  If you have a toothache, you are going to call a dentist.  I mean, sure, your neighbor has a mouth and teeth and knows the basics of oral hygiene, but I doubt you are willing to hand him a drill and trust him as your oral surgeon--no matter how low the price he offers.

Why is it that the famous movie introductions are so creepy?  From Jack Nicholson’s “Heeere’s Johnny!” as Jack Torrance in The Shining to Heather O’Rourke’s “They’re heeere!” as Carol Anne Freeling in Poltergeist.  Apparently, all memorable introductions should drag out the “here” into as many syllables as possible.
